A delegation of Indo - Pacific Endeavour (IPE) Key Leadership Engagement, headed by Air Commodore Richard David OWEN, NSW, as part of their visit to Sri Lanka, arrived in Trincomalee (05) morning and met the Commander Security Force (East) Major General K P A Jayasekera WWV RSP USP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding 22 Division Major General W A N M Weerasinhge RSP USP ndc and a group of Senior Officers at the Headquarters 22 Division. This Australian led Task Group consisted with 5 ships and two ships: HMAS Parramatta (Frigate) and HMAS Success will be docked in Trincomalee Port in their endeavor to enhance relationships, build partner capacity and improve military interoperability throughout the Indo-Pacific region. In addition HMAS Canberra (LHD) and HMAS Newcastle (FFG) have port call for Colombo Harbour end of March.
The delegation comprised with AHC Defence Advisor GPCAPT Sean Unwin, LCDR Phillip Garrett, Defence Support Officer - Mr. Ian Edwards and Ms. Caitlin Jensen of IPE Key Leadership Engagement programme and Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka.
During the interaction with the Commander Security Force (East), the delegation exchanged viewson matters relevant to Emergency Response" Disaster Management Assistance" Community engagement activities highlighting interoperability needs and conducting joint exercises in future. Special attention was given in promoting operational and tactical level commanders’involvement for planning process on conceptualizing tactical situations on Disaster response to enhance joint operations in association with civilian agencies.
Towards the end of the cordial interaction, Commander presented mementos to the visiting delegation.
