COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (EAST) PAYS FIELD VISITS TO 1 CR, 3 MIR AND 5(V) SLAWC BATTALIONS

Major General Aruna Jayasekera, the Commander, Security Force - East made field visits to 1 CR, 3 MIR and 5 (V) SLAWC Battalions on Wednesday, 16 January 2019.

Commander, Security Force (East) first arrived at the Headquarters 3 MIR, Ruwanpitiya and welcome by Lt. Col DMM Dissanayaka RWP, the Commanding Officer. The visiting Commander was invited to plant a ‘Mango’ sapling inside the Headquarters premises to mark this visit. After the CO’s briefing, Commander had an opportunity to discuss matters pertaining to administration aspects, operational needs, welfare measures and requirements of the troops. Concluding the itinerary of the first visit, Major General Aruna Jayasekera joined an all rank tea and shared a cup of tea with Officers and soldiers of the Battalion.

The Commander Security Force (East) afterwards, visited the 1 Commando Regiment, Borawewa and 5 (V) SLAWC Battalion in Dalukana. During those visits too he was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officers and symbolically planted saplings followed by all ranks tea at both venues. During the briefings, Lt Col RRC Karunarathna RWP, the Commanding Officer - 1 Commando Regiment and Major BHS Fernando, the Commanding Officer - 5 (V) Battalion of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, placed comprehensive operational environment and roles of their Battalions before the Commander Security Force (East).
