THE COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE - EAST MEETS RELIGIOUS LEADERS & GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS DURING HIS FIELD VISITS

The Commander Security Force (East), Major General Aruna Jayasekera had courtesy calls with several premier religious leaders and government authorities of the Batticaloa District during his maiden field visits to 231 & 233 Brigades on 06 December.

Paying his highest regards to the religious sentiments, the Commander Security Force (East) called on Ven. Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Mangalaramaya Batticaloa and the Bishop of Batticaloa Rev. Fr. Joseph Ponniah at Bishop's House Batticaloa and received blessings upon his assumption of office recently and had cordial discussions on his aspiration to foster religious co-existence of the Eastern Province. Further, the Commander insisted the need to have effective communication between ethnic groups in order to preserve the peaceful co-existence of the region, as per the vision of Commander of the Army. Later, he met the District Secretary Batticaloa Mr. M Uthayakumar and Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police - Eastern Province, Mr. Kapila Jayasekara.

Meanwhile, the Commander Security Force (East) took time off to visit the Headquarters of 231 and 233 Brigades and attended the formalities after being warmly received by the respective Brigade Commanders, Commander 231 Brigade Colonel Mihindu Perera and Commander 233 Brigade Colonel Anil Samarasiri. The visiting Commander symbolically planted saplings to mark his visits and addressed the troops focusing on the importance of training in different professional aspects of the career and maintenance of the highest standards of discipline. Further, he had an opportunity to share his thoughts with the troops of the respective locations.
