Under the direction of Commander of the Army, Security Force Headquarters (East) jointly with 23 Division organized a solemn flag-blessing ceremony at Mangalaramaya, Batticaloa on Thursday (6) in connection with the forthcoming 69th Army anniversary and the Army Day (Oct 10). The event was organized with the guidance of the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala and with the supervision of General Officer Commanding 23 Division Brigadier Chula Abenayaka and Commander 231 Brigade, Brigadier Senarath Niwunhella. A representative gathering of Officers and Other Rankers serving in Security Force Headquarters (East), Forward Maintenance Area (East) and 23 Division attended the occasion.
Members of the Maha Sangha, headed by Ven. Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero, Chief Incumbent of Mangalaramaya, Batticaloa chanted Seth Pirith and invoked blessings on flags of Security Force Headquarters (East), Forward Maintenance Area (East), 23 Division, 231 Brigade, 232 Brigade, 233 Brigade and the under command Battalions.
Around the same time, Maha Sangha blessed for all fallen War Heroes, injured Army personnel and those who are serving in the Eastern Theatre as well as members of the families of those Army personnel.
Commander FMA (East) Major General Manoj Mudannayaka, Brigade Commanders and a gathering of senior officers were also present during the ceremony.
