2(V)SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS CELEBRATES ITS 38TH ANNIVERSARY

2nd (Vol) Sri Lanka Signal Corps celebrated its 38th anniversary with a series of events under the guidance of the Commanding Officer Lt Col Bathiya Jayaweera. The proceedings in connection with the anniversary celebrations commenced with a solemn religious ceremony at sacred Somawathiya Temple which comprised a bodhi pooja, gilanpasa pooja followed by invoking blessings to the troops.

The Commanding Officer was accorded a Guard Turnout followed by a ceremonial parade in conformity with military traditions. Afterwards, the newly constructed Corporals’ club was opened by the Commanding Officer and offered mementos to retired SNCOs/NCOs during the year 2017, in appreciation of their valuable service rendered to the battalion. Thereafter, the members of the civil staff too were presented with some gifts for their valuable service.

Meanwhile, a special lunch was offered to 22 great Military Veterans including 2 Royal Army Veterans who had actively take part in World War II, reside at “Home for Tri-Service Veterans” at Bolagala, Katana. During the lunch, the veterans were pleased with a Calypso Band and healthy beverages. Finally, all veterans were offered a parcel of essential items and special token of appreciation.
