4th Battalion the Gemunu Watch serving under Security Forces East concluded its battalion training at the Battalion Training School Punani on 26 March 2018.The final presentation of the training programme was held under the patronage of Commander Security Forces East, Major General Santhusitha Pananwala.
The final day’s proceedings commenced with the Chief Guest being warmly received by the Commanding Officer 4 GW Lt Col Suraj Gamage on his arrival to the venue. The live demonstration conducted on Riot Control and the presentation touched the topic of ‘Revolt of 1971.
With the objective to achieve the highest standards of proficiency to enable the officers and soldiers to accomplish the assigned strategic roles, a total of 233 members including 11 Officers and 286 Other Ranks underwent the training programme.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) 23 Division, Brigadier Chula Abenayake, Commander 231 Brigade, Brigadier Senarath Niwunhella, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks witnessed the presentation.
