Major General P R Pathiravithana USAWC psc proudly represents the remarkable legacy of Ananda College, Colombo. Throughout his formative years he establishe himself as a prominent sportsman who was a member of the Cricket team and the rugby football teams at the school level. These early experiences instilled in him a sense of discipline teamwork and perseverance.
His journey in the Sri Lanka Army began on 14th July 1990 when he enlisted in the regular force, joined Intake 34 Sri Lanka Military Academy - Diyathalawa and upon completion of basic military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy; he was commissioned on 02nd July 1992 and subsequently posted to the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
Throughout his Illustrious military career Major General Ravi Pathiravithana held numerous significant many important Command, Staff and Instructor appointments demonstrating his exceptional leadership and expertise. Major General Ravi Pathiravithana participated in numerous military operations across Sri Lanka. While holding various responsibilities at different ranks, he gained extensive experience in Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency Operations. He also served as the Commanding Officer of the 9th, 8th, and 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
He showcased his leadership and operational expertise during his tenure with the United Nations Mission in Haiti, playing a pivotal role in managing critical aspects of the mission’s operational framework. He later served as the General Officer Commanding of the 52 Infantry Division.
Currently, Major General Ravi Pathiravithana serves as the Commander Security Forces (East), Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka National Guard and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Cricket Council, Sri Lanka Army.
