The troops of 22 Division with old boy’s association of St Joseph’s College jointly organized a Inter School Western Band Competition at St Joseph College ground in Trincomalee on Saturday (10).The Intention of the Competition is the awareness among students of the importance of CO - Curricular activities to give an opportunity to expose their talents and to motivate them and give them more knowledge about western Music education.
The Chief Guest Major General KPA Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndc psc General Officer Commanding 22 Division together with most Rev. Dr Noel Emmanual Bishop of Trincomalee were warmly welcomed by St Joseph College Principal and College. More than five hundred Students participated in the Competition, Attired in eye - catching and elegant dresses, of the School Bands started renting the air with their rhythmic and soothing melodies showing their band playing talents amidst loud cheering.
The Climax of the day’s events surrounded in curiosity reached the agenda with the beginning of presentation of trophies and certificates to the Best Band display teams. In the inter school western Band Competition, St Joseph College emerged as 1st place were declared amid a thundering applause 2nd and 3rd places went to Hindu College and St Marry’s College. In a brief address to the occasion after award of trophies chief guest extended his praise and appreciation to all the members in school Bands display teams and commended them for their quality performances.
Gajaba Regiment Band team and Commando Regiment K - A Group jointed the ceremony and presented Band display and dog show it’s highlighted the event. Brigader KPS Premalal RWP RSP USP 221 Brigade Commander, Mr. N Vijendran Zonel Education Director, Mr E, Kugapriya, General Manager, Tokyo Cement Group, Mr.R Ravikavan Reginal Manager People’s Bank, Trincomalee, Mr.R Ranganathan General Manager, Ceylinco Life and distinguished invitees wintenssed the competition.
