DISTRIBUTION OF 5000 BED KITS, SCHOOL AMENITIES AMONG SCHOOL CHILDREN IN AMPARA AND BATTICALOA DISTRICTS BY ROATARY CLUB OF KELANIYA
\"Sleeping Children Around the World\" ( SCAW ) emerged in 1970 and its purpose was to give every child the opportunity to have good night sleep. With sound sleep they believe that promise of a better tomorrow is realized.\r\nAlong with that principle, with the mediation of Rotary Club, Kelaniya, 5000 bed kits along with essential school amenities were distributed among the school children of all three communities of low income families in Batticaloa and Ampara districts. The entire programme was conducted in Wandaramunai, Vellaveli in Batticaloa district under 23 Div and Manthottam, Sammanthurai, Namalthalawa, and Galapitagala, in Ampara district under 24 Div, at six distribution centers and sponsored by \"Sleeping Children Around the World Organization\" (SCAW) in Canada, covering the districts of Ampara and Batticaloa under Security Force (East). 5000 students were selected from 70 schools of Ampara and Batticaloa districts were benefited out of this programme.\r\n\r\nThe bed kit comprises of a mat or mattress/bedding, a mosquito net, Schoolbag and school supplies, clothing and footwear. Total cost of the donation would be Rs 19250000.00, Mrs Katie Sandiford – Team Leader SCAW, Rtn Mr Sarath Gunawardane, Chairman – Projects, Rotary Club - Kelaniya also joined with the six day donation programme. GOC 24 Div Maj Gen Mahinda Mudalige RWP RSP ndu too joined with the programme at Vellavali M.V on 10 Jul 2017 and extended his gratitude to the SCAW representatives.\r\n\r\nThis programme was coordinated by Security Force Headquarters (East) under the directon of Comd SF (E) Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu and executed by CAOs\' of 23 and 24 Divs very effectively from 06 Jul 2017 - 11 Jul 2017. \r\n
