CONCLUSION OF SCIENTIFIC FARMING COURSE AT KANDAKADY FARM.

Determined and fully dedicated to the vision for poverty eradication and sustainable development, as declared by HE the President to coincide with his 2nd anniversary in office, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva RWP VSV USP ndu psc, has launched a comprehensive project to impart most modern scientific and technical know-how to village-level farming communities for enhancement of their knowledge on agriculture and farming.\r\nThe three-months long Agriculture training programme conducted for selected farming community by the Army Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock under the supervision of the Commander, Security Forces – (East) and the guidance of the Director, Agriculture and Livestock concluded at the Kandakadu Farm amidst a simple ceremony on 05 Wed April 2017.\r\n During this 90-day long training project, trainees were adequately educated those rural farming communities on the use of scientific and technical methods for enhancement of their knowledge in proper planting, caring, productivity, cost reduction, increasing harvests, storage, climatic changes, use of carbonic manure, viruses, etc to match with most modern farming techniques at global level.\r\nEach attendee during the awareness course, on a proposal made by the Comd of the Army, is paid Rs 300/= per day and subsequently it was increased to Rs 600/= after the approval of Ministry of Defence for the increment. In addition, morning and evening refreshments, lunch and other facilities were provided free of charge to the participants.\r\nThe certificate awarding ceremony and the closing ceremony of the course was attended by the Comd 233 Bde, Col Chandra Jayaweera RSP psc as the Chief Guest representing the Comd SF(E) .\r\n
