\"SIL\" OBSERVANCE PROGRAMME ON MEDIN FULL MOON POYA DAY - SFHQ(E)
A Sil Observance Programme was launched by the Security Force Headquarters – (East) on Sunday 12 March 2017 to coincide with the Medin Full Moon Poya day with the participation of hundreds of Buddhist Devotees of the area. \r\n\r\nOn the directions of Commander, Security Forces (East) Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi RSP USP ndu psc, the programme got underway at the Dimbulagala Aranya Senasanaya, Dimbulagala, with a view to develop spiritual capacity of soldiers and to enhance the relationship with the community as well.\r\n\r\nDuring the Sil programme, a well-known Buddhist intellectual and TV presenter of spiritual programs, Senior Professor Sumanapala Galmangoda, Director of Post Graduate Institute of Pali & Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya conducted a two hour dhamma discussion.\r\n\r\nA total of 150 civilian devotees representing all ages, together with the members of the Army observed Sil on the Poya day.\r\n
