MAJOR GENERAL K M U WIJERATNE USP ndu BIDS FAREWELL TO SECURITY FORCES (EAST)

Major General K M U Wijeratne USP ndu Commander Security Force (East) with an illustrious military career spanning 35 years, relinquished the office of the Eastern Command on 31 October 2016 completing his military career at Sri Lanka Army.\r\nA series of formalities held at Headquarters, in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment commenced with the reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded to the outgoing Commander on arrival to the venue. The Chief Guest inspected the Guard of Honour accorded to him by troops of the 7 Field Engineer Regiment in keeping with military traditions.\r\nGOCs, of 22, 23, 24 Divisions and Comd FMA (E) were present and a large gathering of Snr Officers and soldiers attended the occasion.\r\nAddressing the troops of the Security Forces Headquarters –(East), outgoing Comd spelt out that his tenure would be reminiscent as one of the best chapters in his military career and thanked the Staff for all generous support extended during the office spanning of seven months as the Commander of the Security Force–(East).\r\nAfter posing for photographs with the GOCs/Bde Comds and Staff of the SFHQ (E), the outgoing Commander was accorded to an all ranks tea and a lunch at the Officers’ Mess after which he was honoured with a memento in appreciation of his illustrious service rendered to the Security Force (East) followed by the address to the Officers.\r\nThe day’s proceedings reached the culmination with the departure of outgoing Commander Security Force Major General KMU Wijerathne USP ndu from the Office of the Security Forces Headquarters (East)\r\n
