VISIT OF COMMANDER OF THE ARMY LIEUTENANT GENERAL AWJC DE SILVA RWP VSV USP ndu psc

The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General AWJC De Silva RWP VSV USP ndu psc paid an official visit to Security Force Headquarters (East) on 14 March 2016. On his arrival Commander Security Force Headquarters (East) Major General KMU Wijeratne USP ndu warmly welcomed him in accordance with military formalities. A Guard Turnout was presented to the Commander of the Army at the entrance to the SFHQ(E) premises follwed by a Guard of Honour accorded by 7 Field Engineers of the SFHQ(E) in Welikanda. A series of events was held at the SFHQ(E) premises to glamour the visit of the Commander. \r\n\r\n Planting of a tree sapling in the SFHQ(E) premises, a group photograph and an all rank tea party were also included in the Commander’s visit at the SFHQ(E) in Welikanda. During the OR’s tea soldiers of SFHQ(E) got the opportunity to directly talk with Commander .\r\n\r\n 3 SLEME Battalion in SFHQ(E) had improvised a filter for rotary pump to clean the fuel when pump from barrels.\r\n\r\n The Commander addressed a gathering of more than 1000 troops of the SFHQ(E) where he highlighted the importance of training, maintenance of discipline and relationship with the general public. Further he appreciated the victorious Army who contributed to eradicate the terrorism from our mother land.\r\n\r\n The Commander addressed the SFHQ(E) officers separately. Nearly 180 Officers who are serving under the SFHQ(E) participated for this occasion. In that he discussed the importance of upgrading the professional standard of the Army and the problems faced by the Army. \r\n\r\n Major General KMU Wijeratne USP ndu, Commander, SFHQ(E) briefed the Commander on the present state of the area during the latter part of the day’s programme. \r\n\r\n As per a concept developed by the Commander Security Force (East) Major General KMU Wijeratne USP ndu, Other Ranks\' Kitchen of this headquarters was modernized and renovated to make the cooking process systematic and clean. The Commander of the Army witnessed the kitchen to understand how both gas and wood cooking systems working in a neat and tidy way.\r\n
