23 DIVISION BECAME CHAMPIONS OF THE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT ORGANIZED ALONG WITH THE "ARMY EASTERN GAMES 2014"
Finals of the Basketball Tournament Organized along with the "ARMY EASTERN GAMES 2014" was conducted at Security forces Headquarters (East) premises at Welikanda on 25TH May 2014.
Seven Basketball teams representing all Formations of the Eastern theatre taken part at the Basketball Tournament under two groups as Group "A" and Group "B". .Group "A" consist of Security forces Headquarters, , 22 Division "B$, 23 Division "B" and Forward Maintenance Area(East) .Group "B" consist of 22 Division "A", 23 Division "A" and 24 Division. Semi Finals were played between 23 Division "A" Vs 23 Division "B" and Security forces Headquarters (East) Vs 24 Division on 23rd and 24th May 2014.
Finals was played between 23 Division "A" Security forces Headquarters (East) Vs 23 Division "A". 23 Division "A" became Champions of the Basketball Tournament by scoring 52 Points and Security forces Headquarters (East) became Runners Up of the Basketball Tournament by scoring 51 Points. Major General SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndu IG, Commander Security forces (East), grace the Finals of the Basketball Tournament along with Several Military Officials,
ARMY EASTERN GAMES is organized as a concept of Lieutenant General RMD Ratnayake WWV RWP RSPUSP ndu psc, the Commander of the Army and as per the guidance of Major General SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndu IG, Commander Security forces (East), with an aim to highlight and develop the sporting skills of soldiers and groom them to take part in National and International events. Track and Field events of "ARMY EASTERN GAMES 2014" is scheduled to be held in 5th, 6th and 7th of June 2014 at National Sports Complex, Polonnaruwa.
