MINI MARATHON ORGANIZED ALONG WITH THE "ARMY EASTERN GAMES 2014" WAS CONDUCTED AT PUNANI
15,000 Meters Mini Marathon Organized along with the "ARMY EASTERN GAMES 2014" was conducted at Punani on 18 th May 2014. More than 100 participants who are serving all over Eastern Theater took part at the Mini Marathon. Brigadier DCS Wanniarachchi Lsc Brigadier Admin and Quartering of Security Forces Headquarters attend the event as the Chief Guest.â€ARMY EASTERN GAMES†is organized as a concept of Lieutenant General RMD Ratnayake WWV RWP RSPUSP ndu psc, the Commander of the Army and as per the guidance of Major General SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndu IG, Commander Security forces (East),with an aim to highlight and develop the sporting skills of soldiers and groom them to take part in National and International events. Lance Corpral Jeewan Kumara of Sri Lanka Army Service Corps who Represent 23 Division became first in the Mini Marathon. Brigadier AA Kodippili RSP, General Officer Commanding 23 Division ,who was the Chief Organizer of the Mini Marathon, along with Several Military and Civil Dignitaries were attend for the event. Track and Field events of "ARMY EASTERN GAMES 2014" is scheduled to be held in 5th, 6th and 7th of June 2014 at National Sports Complex, Polonnaruwa
