Sinhala and Tamil New year Festival at Aliadiwembu
As per the Concept of Commander Security Forces (East), In view of promoting goodwill and reconciliation amongst the soldiers and the civilians Task Force 3 under the Security Force Headquarters (East) organized a Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival at "Dharmasangiri" play ground in Aliadiwembu on 21 April 2013. Traditional events such as cadjan Weaving, Musical chairs ,eye-placing on the Elephant, coconut scraping , Fancy Dress, Tug-of-War, Marathon, Cross Country Race, Pillow-fights, Cycle race, climbing the grease pole and crowning the New Year Queen drew much attraction of the villagers as well as soldiers. The New Year festival was followed by a musical show backed by the Srilanka Army beat group. General Officer Commanding Task Force 3 Brigadier SHFP Perera RSP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Two foreigners from Austria and large number of villagers many senior military/Govt officers were present at the occasion.
