TOPPIGALA HERITAGE PARK COMPLEX WAS CEREMONIALLY OPENED
Toppigala Heritage Park Complex was ceremonially opened by Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa The Secretary,Ministry of Defence and Urban Development on 18th April 2013 at Alioluwa Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of the Army and Air Force , Inspector General of Police, Director General of the Civil Defence Force ,Commander Security Forces (East) ,Mr Merrill J Fernando, Chairman, Dilmah Conservation and senior military officers were present at the occasion.
Floral tributes were offered at the Monument, erected to commemorate the war heroes who laid down their lives during the battles in the eastern region. School Uniforms were distributed for 1300 Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim students in 11 Schools in the area with the sponsorship of Dilmah Conservation by Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa Chairman of Seva Vanitha Unit Ministry of Defence and Urban Development and Mr Merrill J Fernando Chairman, Dilmah Conservation.
Secretary,Ministry of Defence and Urban Development declared opened an Exhibition Centre which describe the the stages of war on its terrain to the discerning visitors and legacy and the annals of the strategic Toppigala Peak. Dilmah, Sri Lanka$s Conservation had provided financial support for the project worth of Rs. 25 million.
