The Adjutant General and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Artillery, Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc made his first battalion visit to the 5 (V) Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, Kantale on 26 February 2025. The Senior Officer was accorded with a guard turnout and was welcomed by the Commanding Officer, Major D G I A Kumara SLA. The visit was unfolded with planting of a sapling, group photograph, COs' briefing, troop address, camp visit and lunch in the Officers' mess. At the end of the troop address, a memento was presented to the Colonel Commandant by the Commanding Officer and RSM to mark his visit to 5 (V) Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, and the program was concluded after marking remarks in the visitors' book

The Security Forces (East), in collaboration with the 12th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch, the Wildlife Department (Wildlife Office Piburaththawa), and Mahaweli officers (Block Office Dimbulagala), conducted an operation to drive wild 21 elephants from Weeralanda Tank to Maduru Oya National Park on February 1, 2025. This initiative aimed to mitigate damage caused by wild elephants to paddy fields and safeguard local communities.
