Under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Major General WBMKGK Weerasekara WWV RWP RSP USP AUSWC psc, a “Pol Roti Dansala” was conducted on 30 and 31 May 2026 at the Public Grounds in front of the Governor’s Office. The event was organized through the collective efforts of all officers, soldiers and civilian staff of the 22 Infantry Division to providing refreshments to local residents and visitors to Trincomalee from other parts of the country during the VesakFestival

As a tribute to the war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation and to the valuable citizens who lost their lives due to the “Ditwa” cyclone, and with the objective of restoring the extensive environmental damage caused while meaningfully fulfilling the goals of the “Clean Sri Lanka” national initiative, a tree planting programme involving the participation of their next of kin was conducted under the leadership of the Sri Lanka Army. This programme aimed to plant 23,550 saplings island-wide under the theme “HusmenHusmak – ViruThuruSewana.” The Batticaloa District main tree planting programme was held on 29 May 2026 from 0900 hrs to 1100 hrs at the camp premises of 4 GW “C” Company, located at Thumpalachcholai in the RugamGramaNiladhariDivision, under the EravurPattu (Chenkalady) Divisional Secretariat Division, within the area of responsibility of 4 GW Unit. The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (East), in accordance with the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, and under the direct supervision of the Commander, 232 Infantry Brigade. The event was organized under the leadership of Civil Affairs Officer of the 232 Infantry Brigade,Commandig Officer 4 GW and Commanding Officer 12 SLNG with the participation of Family Members of fallen war heroes from the BatticaloaDistrict.Troops From 4 GW and 12SLNG were Participated for the event.

As a tribute to the war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation and the precious lives lost to the nation due to Cyclone Ditva, and to restore the massive environmental damage caused and to meaningfully achieve the objectives of the “Clean Sri Lanka” national mission, the “HusmenHusmak - ViruthuruSevana” tree planting program covering the entire island was carried out on 29.05.2026 from 0800 hours to 1000 hours on a land measuring 01 acre belonging to the Lahugala Site Forest Conservation Office, with the participation of their immediate relatives and under the initiative of the Army.
