VISIT OF THE GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING TO 222 INFANTRY BRIGADE

The General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division, Major General WBMKGK Weerasekara WWV RWP RSP USP AUSWC psc, paid an official inspection visit to the 222 Infantry Brigade on 17 February 2026, subsequent to assuming duties in his present appointment.

The Commander of 222 Infantry Brigade and senior officers received the GOC on arrival and a Guard Turnout was accorded to the GOC by troops of the 9 VIR. GOC planted a mango sapling within the camp premises to commemorate the occasion of his official visit to the Brigade Headquarters

Thereafter, the Brigade Commander briefed the roles & tasks, and ongoing operational and administrative responsibilities undertaken by the Brigade.

Subsequently, the General Officer Commanding conducted a camp inspection, reviewing facilities and interacting with officers and other ranks. The programme concluded with a tea reception hosted by the officers and other ranks of the Brigade, followed by the General Officer Commanding making an entry in the Visitors’ Book, marking the formal conclusion of the visit.
