Troops under 24 Division and sister services in Ampara District commemorate the 70th National Independence day in front of Ampara Tank this morning (04 Feb) in parallel to the National Independence Ceremony at Galle Face. The prestigious parade were displayed by 8 Officers and 227 Other Ranks of Tri Service Personnel together with Police, Special Task Forces and Civil Security Force.
National Anthem was recited in both Sinhala and Tamil Languages by the School Children of D.S Senanayake College – Ampara, Vipulananda Vidyalaya – Malwatte, Nindavur Almashar College including Akkaraipattu Muslim Vidyalaya while hoisting the National Flag by the Chief Guest, Hon Minister of Primary Industries Mr. Daya Gamage. Similarly, Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Petroleum Gas, Mrs. Ayoma Gamage, District Secretary to Ampara, Mr. Thusitha P Wanigasinghe, Major General LM Mudalige, GOC – 24 Division and other Military and Police senior officers including Government Officials together with Religious dignitaries were graced the ceremony as special invitees.
Marched past displayed in front of distinguish guest by the School Cadets Platoons and Cultural Pageant of school children and Civil Security Forces were made the event colorful.
District Secretary to Ampara and Hon. Minister of Primary Industries Mr. Daya Gamage addressed the forum and highly appreciated the Military for organizing grand scale parade with the corporation with District Secretariat and other government authorities at Ampara District. Large gathering had attend to witness the ceremony.
