TROOPS OF SF (EAST) PROVIDE DRINKING WATER TO DROUGHT STRIKEN PEOPLE IN POLONNARUWA
North Central Province is one of the regions which is frequently suffered from drought hazards. Due to the prevailing drought, a considerable amount of people had been affected in Polonnaruwa district.\r\nStatistically 70,431 people, of 18,951 families have been affected by the prevailing drought and it had resulted in severe shortage of drinking water in Divisional Secretariat areas of Welikanda, Dimbulagala, Lankapura, Thamankaduwa, Medirigiriya and Hingurakgoda .\r\nOn the instrs of Lt Gen AWJC De Silva RWP VSV USP ndu psc, Comd of the Army, troops of SF (E) are actively contributing in providing drinking water to the affected people in above mentioned DS areas.\r\n
