TROOPS PLANT 200 MANGROVES AROUND UMIRI LAGOON

In line with the ‘International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove, 8th Battalion of Sri Lanka National Guard under command to 242 Infantry Brigade launched a project to plant 200 mangrove saplings covering the Umiri Lagoon of Ampara on Monday (26).

The project was launched in coordination with the Divisional Forest Officer's Office of the Department of Forest Conservation and with the participation of 8 SLNG troops who volunteered to support the project.

The project was attended by the Conservator General of Forests, District Secretary Ampara, Civil Affairs Officer 242 Infantry Brigade, government officials and members of the Forest Department.
