On 17 August 2025, troops of the 8th Battalion, Sri Lanka National Guard organized a midday alms-giving program for 11 monks at the Kudimgala Aranyasenasana.
The initiative, conducted under the direction of the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Maj Gen HCL Galappathti RSP USP, and Brigade Commander 242 Infantry Brigade Col KGAT Kalakorale RSP with the close supervision of Commanding Officer 8 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard.
