With the Blessing of the Commander, Security Forces - East Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachch, guidance and instruction of overlooking General Officer Commanding - 24 Infantry Division and Commander 242 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Anurudda Solangaarachchi Closer supervises of Commander 241 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Danika Pathirathna and with coordination of the Civil Affairs Officer of 24 Infantry Division, the 16 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard has organized dry ration packets and cattle donation programme for low-income families in the Piyangala (Uhana Divisional Secretary area) at “Piyangala Aranya Senasanaya” Temple on 22 December 2022 .
Accordingly, during this programme, 150 dry ration packets for 150 low-income families, 50 nutrition packs with essential equipment and 50 dry ration packets for 50 pregnant mothers and 14 cattle for 13 civilians have been distributed. Subsequently, dry ration packs were distributed among 24 civil servants who are working in the Headquarters of the 24 Infantry Division too. The total value of the donation was nearly 3 Million rupees (Rs 3,000,000/=), under the patronage of the Venerable "Galigamuwe Ghanadeepa" thero, owner of the “Foundation of Goodness”.
Overlooking General Officer Commanding - 24 Infantry Division and Commander 242 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Anurudda Solangaarachchi Graced the Occasion as the Chief Guest and Civil Affairs Officer - 24 Infantry Division, Lieutenant Colonel Sunil Jayarathna, Civil Affairs Officer - 241 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Thilak Kumarasiri, Commanding Officer of 16th battalion Sri Lanka National Guard Maj Manjula Alawatta and officers and Other Ranks of 16th battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, beneficiaries and representatives of the donor agency took part in the distribution ceremony.
