The troops of 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, under command to 222 Brigade, built a new house for a low - income family in Verugal Trincomalee with the financial support of Mr. Sarath Yahampath. The new house recipient, Mrs. Devanayagi lived in a tin sheets hut with her four children since her husband had left the family some time back. She did not have a permanent source of income.
This project was launched under the guidance of General Officer Commanding 22 Division Major General Aruna Jayasekara and under the supervision of Commander 222 Brigade Brigadier Deepal Pussella.
The newly built house was handed over to the needy family amidst Hindu rituals on Saturday (25) during a brief ceremony, headed by Major General KPA Jayasekara General Officer Commanding 22 Division.
Mr. Sarath Yahampath donated a stock of furniture to the house recipient Mrs. Devanayagi and sports items to the youth in the area at the some occasion.
Brigadier Deepal Pussella, Commander - 222 Brigade, Mr. K Gunanadan, Divisional Secretary Verugal, Major Mervin Fernando Commanding Officer 22 VIR, sponsor Mr. Sarath Yahampath and family members, Senior Officers and villagers were also present at the occasion.
