District coordinating conference for prevention of COVID - 19 pandemic was held at District Secretariat office, Trincomalee on 04 January 2021. After being appointed as the District Coordinating Officer Trincomalee, the General Officer Commanding - 22 Division Major General Channa Weerasooriya had a lengthy discussion with the District Secretary, Trincomalee Mr. Saman Dharshana Padikorala and other stakeholders regarding the sudden increase of Covid - 19 positive cases in Trincomalee district. Measures taken to prevent the spread of the pandemic, how it really affects the community, conducting awareness programs, progress of conducting random PCR/Antigen tests and the need of implementing a proper mechanism to curtail the spread of the virus in coordination with police, government and health authorities were discussed during the conference.
