Coinciding with the state ceremony held to celebrate the 65th Independence Day in the port city of Trincomalee, Task Force 3 of Security Forces (East) Coordinate Independence Celebrations at Vipulananda School Karthieve, Bakmitiyawa School, Methodist Tamil School Pothuvil and Thirukkovil Town with an aim to build up the Communal Harmony in the area. Hoisting of the National Flag, “Two Minutes Silence†in remembrance of fallen War Heroes and National anthem was sung at the Independence Celebrations with the participation of several Religious, Military and Civil Dignitaries. People in the "Eastern province" marked the Independence Day hoisting National Flags in front of their houses and business places depicting the unity and sovereignty of the country.
