On a concept of Major General Aruna Jayasekera, Commander Security Forces (East), the troops of Security Force Headquarters (East) added their share to the Island wide Poson commemoration by organizing a 'Poson Zone' in the heart of Welikanda under the guidance of Chief Incumbent of Buddhist Centre Welikanda Ven. Delvita Meththalankara Thero.
Commander Security Forces (East) ceremonially inaugurated the Poson zone that featured devotional song presentation, huge lanterns and a Mega Dansela (free eatery).
He served the first meal portion to the sight-seers and opened the eatery, together with Major General Kapila Udalupola General Officer Commanding 23 Division, Brigadier Wanditha Mahinkanda Brigadier General Staff SF HQ (E), Brigadier Michel Wanniarachchi Brigadier Admin & Quartering - SF HQ (E), Mrs. M M Heirunisha Divisional Secretary Welikanda, the Chairman of Pradeshiya Sabha Welikanda and a host of Senior Officers and government officials.
A huge gathering of civilians representing Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities flocked to Poson Zone - Welikanda which will continue until 18 June.
