Heralding the dawn of the New Year 2023, the Headquarters of the Security Forces Headquarters - East initiated the work of the first working day on 02 January 2023 having accomplished the customary military formalities presided by Commander of the, Security Forces - East.
Having hoisted the National Flag by the Commander, Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi and flag of the Security Forces - East by the Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Sujeewa Jayasinghe, the National Anthem and the Army Song were recited as the flags were on the full swing. Just after two minutes silence being observed in memory of the fallen heroes, everybody in attendance pledged their allegiance to the State by reading the Government Servants’ Oath before the Commander of the, Security Forces – East. Afterwards, the troops listened to the speech of Commander of the Security Forces- East,during the session the Commander spelled out his views on heading through the military career which are immensely prestigious and reputable amidst this crucial phenomenon of the country realizing its Way Forward,this extended the best wishes for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year and his best wishes for all the Officers and Other Ranks and their families for the New Year 2023 concluding his address.
Subsequently, worth sum of Rs 2500/= each, 28 packs of dry ration were distributed among the 28 civil employers who are service in SFHQ-(E), by Commander of the Security Forces – East and Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier, Sujeewa Jayasinghe also participated the moment, after that all the Ranks of the Headquarters gathered with a tea ritual arranged at the Function Hall of the Headquarters Premises and marked the culmination of work in the dawned new year.
