Under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces (East), several establishments under the command of Security Forces (East) conducted a series of environmental programs in parallel with World Environment Day, observed on 05 June 2025.
To commemorate the occasion, special programs were organized throughout the Eastern Theatre under the theme ‘Ending Plastic Pollution’, in line with the Clean Sri Lanka initiative. This effort aims to promote an environmentally friendly and sustainable society. Accordingly, the period from 30 May to 05 June 2025 was declared as Environment Week.
A special beach-cleaning campaign and a tree-planting program were conducted by the 22 Infantry Division. The General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division, Major General HDLS Lalith Perera RWP RSP ndc, also participated in the event. In addition to this, several other establishments, including the Security Forces Headquarters (East), organized a range of events throughout the Eastern Theatre to support the initiative.
