SECURITY FORCES (EAST) JOINS WITH ‘TRIPITAKABHIVANDANA’ WEEK

Security Forces (East) lines up with the state institutions of the area to organize various religious programmes during the ‘Tripitakabhivandana’ week that has been declared from March 16 to March 23, to mark the declaration of Theravada Tripitaka, the sacred scripture of Buddhists, as a World Heritage. The Presidential Secretariat, Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Ministry of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with other Ministries, State Institutions and Security Forces have organized many religious programmes to mark the ‘Tripitakabhivandana’ week island wide.

Accordingly, on the 16th of March, several Pindapatha Alms giving programmes were organized by the police stations in the Security Force (East) area parallel to this ‘Tripitakabhivandana’ week. Welikanda Police Station in collaboration with Security Force Headquarters (East), offered 'Pindapatha' Alms to Maha Sangha at Samaviharaya, Sewanapitiya.

Meanwhile, 100 Army personnel of 22 Division and 221 Brigade Trincomalee joined with Trincomalee Police Station in offering Alms to 15 resident Monks of Jayasumanaramaya, Trincomalee during their ‘Pindapatha’ visit in Trincomalee town.

222 Brigade assisted Divisional Secretariat, Kanthale to organize a ‘Pindapatha’ visit from Divisional Secretariat premises to historical Welunna Rajamaha Viharaya with the participation of 50 Monks and offered Alms. In the meantime, 224 Brigade with 6 SLAC provided their able assistance to conduct a charming ‘Perahara’ from Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya to Uthurugiri Viharaya, Muthur with ‘Piruwana Poth Wahanse’ and 15 SLLI troops joined with Police and Civil Security Department to organize a ‘Pindapatha Charika’ from Jayapura Sri Vimalarama Temple to Sri Vijayawardhanaramaya, Thambalagamuwa and offered Alms to 10 Buddhist Monks.
