Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, the newly appointed Security Forces Commander (East), embarked on his inaugural formal visit to the 22 Infantry Division and under command Brigades on 30 April 2024.
On his arrival to the 22 Infantry Division, General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division Major General P A M Peiris RSP USP psc extended a warm welcome. The time honored military tradition of a guard turnout at the entrance added a touch of solemnity to the occasion, setting the tone for the Security Forces (East) Commander's visit.
To mark his presence, the Security Forces Commander (East) ceremoniously planted a sapling. Capturing the essence of the moment a group photograph was taken,in preserving the occasion. Thereafter, a comprehensive briefing was conducted by the GOC, Colonel GS and SIO of the 22 Infantry Division on the role and tasks of the 22 Infantry Division.
Addressing the troops, Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc delivered a stirring speech, highlighting the importance of maintaining discipline, professionalism, and unwavering dedication at all times. Emphasizing the noble duty of protecting the nation, Commander Security Forces (East), urged the troops to maintain not only high standards of professionalism but also to embody positivity and goodwill as proud members of the Sri Lankan Army. The well-structured speech instilled a sense of pride and purpose in the hearts of the troops.
Following the formal proceedings, Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc joined with the soldiers for an all ranks tea. This gave an opportunity for the Commander Security Forces (East), to interact with the soldiers and share his thoughts with them. Concluding the proceedings, Commander Security Forces (East), graciously left his thoughts and signature in the Visitors’ Book.
Thereafter, The Commander Security Forces (East) conducted official visits to 221, 222 and 223 Infantry Brigades respectively on 30 April and 1 May 2024. In all three Brigade Headquarters, the Commander Security Forces (East), Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc was warmly welcomed by the respective Infantry Brigade Commander upon his arrival. This was followed by planting a sapling to commemorate his formal visit to the respective Brigades. A formal briefing,emphasizing the role, task, and operational readiness of the Brigades was followed by a camp visit and signing the visitors’ book.
The Commander Security Forces (East), also took time to visit two battalions namely, 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery and 2(V) Gajaba Regiment during the program. Overall, presence of the Commander Security Forces (East) left an indelible impression, inspiring all who had the privilege of taking part in this memorable program.
The General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders, senior staff officers of the Security Forces Headquarters (East), commanding officers, officers and other ranks were present during the visit.
