To coincide with the 16th anniversary of the Security Force Headquarters (East), a series of events were organized at the Headquarters premises, Welikanda on 30th October, under the directions of Major General Rasika Fernando, the Commander Security Forces (East).
The anniversary programme assumed greater significance in conformity with military traditions where the Commander was accorded with a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the camp premises by troops of 2nd (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Signal Corps after he was warmly received by Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Samantha Silva and Brigadier Admin & Quartering Brigadier Michael Wanniarachchi.
Afterwards, the Commander planted a ‘Sandalwood’ sapling at the temple premises to signify the anniversary and thereafter, posed for a group photograph with the staff of the SF HQ(E).
The 16th Anniversary Day programme comprised with a customary all ranks tea and all ranks lunch at the headquarters premises where the Commander Security Forces (East) spared his time to interact with the troops.
Meanwhile, in line with the anniversary celebrations, a tree planting campaign to plant 1000 saplings at the Headquarters premises got underway on 27 of October. A large gathering of Officers and Other Ranks of the Security Force Headquarters (East) including civil employees attended the event.
