A RESCUE OPERATION WAS CONDUCTED BY THE 5TH SRI LANKA ARMY MEDICAL CORPS TO SAVE A GROUP OF CIVILIANS AFFECTED BY FLOODING.

Due to heavy rainfall, a severe flood situation was reported in the Asirigama village, which falls under the Palugaswewa Divisional Secretariat area of the SFHQ (E) region. As a result, a number of villagers were affected by the floods. Accordingly, a team of 01 x 12 troops from the 5th Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps was deployed to rescue the affected civilians on 28 November 2025.

All rescued individuals have been safely directed to designated safe locations, and no other damages have been reported. The troops remain prepared to provide further assistance as necessary, based on requirements and instructions.
