RELIEF ITEMS COLLECTED IN KATTANKUDY HANDED OVER TO MILITARY FOR DISTRIBUTION TO FLOOD VICTIMS

The Kattankudy community has come together to collect essential dry rations and other relief items for families affected by the recent flooding, with the support and coordination of the 24 Infantry Division and the 243 Infantry Brigade. A total of 500 dry ration packets, valued at approximately Rs. 2,500,000, have been collected and formally handed over to the military for distribution among those sheltered in safety centers in Muthur and those affected by the flooding in Mavil Aru, located within the 233 Infantry Brigade area in Wakarei.

This programme was conducted under the special direction of the Commander Security Forces (East), Maj Gen JSBW Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, with the assistance of the GOC 24 Infantry Division, Maj Gen KW Jayaweera USP psc, and the support of the Commander 243 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier KMUP Kalupahana USP psc.

The programme was held at 1100 hrs on 01 December 2025 and was attended by the GOC 24 Infantry Division, Maj Gen KW Jayaweera USP psc, and the Commander 243 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier KMUP Kalupahana USP psc, along with 5 × 20 troops from the 243 Infantry Brigade and the 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
