ONE MORE ARMY BUILT NEW HOUSE IN EAST HANDED OVER TO A DISABLED CIVILIAN

To coincide with the 72nd Army anniversary, the Security Force Headquarters (East) on Friday (08) handed over one more new house built by the Army to a civilian in Muthuwella area in Welikanda.

The house, built within 60 days by Army troops of 9th Field Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) under 233 Infantry Brigade was delivered to the recipient, Mrs KP Damayanthi, a disabled lady during a simple ceremony headed by the Commander Security Force (East), Major General Channa Weerasuriya.

In addition to labour provided by the Army, funds for raw materials have been allocated by the ‘Mihindu Niwahana’ Fund, following initiatives taken by the Security Force Headquarters (East).

Opening ceremony of the house was attended by General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, Major General Nalin Koswatta, Brigadier General Staff of SFHQ-(E), Brigadier Sujeewa Jayasinghe, Commander 233 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Wasantha Hewage, Commanding Officer 9th Field Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, Lieutenant Colonel Dinesh Wanigasekara, troops and a gathering of civilians living in the area.

Ultimately, certificates were distributed among the troops in appreciations of their generous contribution towards this worthy cause.
