ONE MORE 05 - ACRE LAND BELONGING TO A CIVILIAN RELEASED FOR USE

Security Forces Headquarters – East, in keeping with the government policy of releasing civilians’ owned portions of land, hitherto being used by the troops in the East formally handed over another 05-acre private land belonging to Mrs Annapuram on 03 August 2021.

The formal ceremony of releasing this stretch of land in Kumburumulla which was occupied by the troops of the 4th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch took place headed by Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Commander, Security Force - East as the Chief Guest and District Secretary Batticaloa Mr Karunaharan as the Guest of Honour.

During the ceremony, official documents related to another 07 acre land in the same area were also handed over to Divisional Secretary Koralaipattu for necessary onward formalities to be released for the respective owners.

Meanwhile, the Commander Security Force (East) paid his special gratitude to Mrs Annapuram who had made an invaluable sacrifice for the motherland by donating her own 35 acre land to Sri Lanka Army in 1991. Out of the land, a portion of 30 acres was already handed over to Mrs Annapuram by the 10th Battalion, the Gajaba Regiment on 18 June 2018.

General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division Major General Nalin Koswatte, DIG Battocaloa, Commander 231 Infantry Brigade, Divisional Secretary of Valachchenai Koralaipattu DS Division, Army and police officers and a large gathering attended the occasion.
