NEW RECRUITS PASS OUT FROM HENANIGALA TRAINING SCHOOL

A formal ceremony was held on 29 March 2024 at the Recruit Training School Henanigala to mark the pass out of 523 new recruits to their respective regiments. Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, the Commander, Security Forces (East), at the invitation of the Commandant of the Training School attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

After completion of their 6 month basic training as Course No - 38, those 523 recruits, posted to Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Gemunu Watch, Gajaba Regiment, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Commando Regiment, Special Forces, Military Intelligence Corps, Sri Lanka National Guard, and Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps received their regimental colours during the ceremony.

A Physical training and a Band display added glamour to the ceremony attended by a large gathering of parents, relatives and well-wishers of those recruits. Following Officers and recruits received special awards for their outstanding performance during training.

Best Platoon Commander - Capt H.L.A.A.P Liyanarachchi of Sri Lanka Armored Corps, Best Platoon Sergeant - Sergeant Asanka K.A.T, Best Section Commander - Lance Corporal Herath T.W.S.M, Best Physical Training Instructor - Lance Corporal Abeysundara N.A.M.U, Best Shot - Recruit Medis W.W.G.K, Fittest Soldier - Recruit Premananda K.D.M.S and Best Recruit - Recruit Madanayake C.C.

During the 6 month long basic training recruits received training in Drill, Field craft, Tactics, Physical Training, Map reading, and all other essential training including sports, under a team of well qualified instructors. Senior officers, officers Other Ranks, parents, relatives and friends of the new recruits witnessed the ceremony.
