As part of the ongoing housing project of the Army, a new house built jointly by 3 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), 8 SLNG, 18 SLNG, 24 SLNG and 3 ESR troops under the Security Forces ( East ) was symbolically handed over to the Private (Retired) D. L Samarasundara, 9 SLNG with five children by HE the President Maithripala Sirisena at the invitation of Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army on 18 April 2016.\r\n\r\nThe new house, valued at 4 million built for 1.5 million was built on a plot of land provided by the beneficiary. Sri Lanka Army troops built the house providing their labour and technical expertise.\r\n\r\nHis Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena ceremonially handed over the keys to the recipient wishing him good luck. House opening ceremony took place Polonnaruwa on 18 April 2016.\r\n\r\nMajor GeneralK.M.UWijeratneUSPndu Commander SF(E), several senior officers, other ranks and a large gathering of invitees attended to the occasion.
