The newly appointed General Officer Commander of 24 Infantry Division, Major General Wajira Welagedera , made a his First formal field visit to the Headquarters 242 Infantry Brigade, 23rd Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 8th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, located under the 242 Infantry Brigade AOR on Friday (07) and Saturday (08) , as part of his familiarization visits.
The General Officer Commander of 24 Infantry Division first arrived at the Headquarters 242 Infantry Brigade and attended the formalities there and the visiting commander was received by the Commander 242 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Anuradha Solangaarachchi and the Commanding Officer 8 Sri Lanka National Guard.
Accordingly, an all rank tea, planting of a sapling and during those visits respective commanders were briefed on the security arrangement at sensitive points, dining and cooking facilities and welfare facilities for Other Ranks, etc. General Officer Commander 24 Infantry Division addressed the troops of under Command 242 Infantry Brigade at 242 Infantry Brigade premises and he emphasized on continuing professional training and continuation of the good work while maintaining the highest standards of discipline at all levels.
Furthermore, Saturday (08), General Officer Commander 24 Infantry Division, visited the 8th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard and attended the formalities there too. The officers and soldiers met him and had an opportunity to discuss matters pertaining to administration aspects, operational needs, welfare measures and requirements of the troops during this field visit. Also, Commander, 242 Infantry Brigade participated to the visit.
