The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Brigadier Saliya Amunugama made his formal visits to 18 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 16 Sri Lanka National Guard, 242 Infantry Brigade and 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on 19 and 20 February as part of his familiarization visits.
During those visits, respective Commanders were briefed on the security arrangements at sensitive points, dining and cooking facilities and welfare facilities for Other Ranks, etc.
Troops address were done by the General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division in respective headquarters and he emphasized the need of preserving the image of the Army through maintenance of highest standards of discipline at all levels and he highlighted the vested responsibility of the Army to strengthen the government’s effort of producing organic fertilizer as a national endeavor in present context.
