Major General Wajira Welagedara of the Gemunu Watch assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division after the religious blessings at the Headquarters at Malwaththa, Ampara on Monday (03).
The newly appointed General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and honored in a Guard turnout. Afterwards new GOC signed a formal document at the auspicious minute and symbolized the official acceptance of new appointment.
Furthermore, an all rank tea, planting a sapling and the formal address to the Officers and Other Ranks culminated the day’s proceedings. Brigade Commanders, Colonel General Staff and Colonel Administration & Quartering with 24 Division Staff, Commanding Officers under the Division and under command Units troops participated in the occasion.
