Major General WANM Weerasinghe RSP USP ndc assumed office as the 23rd General Officer Commanding of the 22 Division on Monday (26).
The day´s proceedings commenced with the incoming General Officer Commanding being accorded a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the premises and welcomed by Colonel GS 22 Division Thereafter, he received the ceremonial parade, accorded in his honour by the troops of 22 Division at the parade square.
Afterwards, Major General WANM Weerasinghe planted a sapling at the gymnasium premises to mark his inauguration of office and assumed duties as the General officer commanding 22 Division at auspicious time with religious blessing. Addressing the troops, the General Officer Commanding urged them to maintain highest standards of discipline at all levels to ensure the effective function of the Headquarters 22 Division. Commamders of 221,222 and 224 Brigades, Commanding officers and Staff Officers of 22 Division participated in the event.
He succeeded Major General K P A Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndc psc who was recently appointed as the Commander SF(East).
