Major D S K Senarathna SLNG assumed duties as the 13th Commanding Officer of the 12th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard on 14 August 2020 at the Headquarters of 12th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard in Periyawadduwan, Thoppigala.
On arrival at the premises, the troops of the battalion accorded the new Commanding Officer with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance with military formalities.
The newly-appointed Commanding Officer formally accepted his new appointment amid religious observances and afterwards, planted a sapling at the Headquarter premises signifying his inauguration of the office.
Towards the end of the ceremony, the new Commanding Officer addressed all officers and other ranks.
