The National Youth Junior and Senior Novices Weightlifting Championship 2018, organized by the Polonnaruwa District Weightlifting Association in partnership with Welikanda Divisional Secretariat, and SFHQ (East) was declared open by the Chief Guest, the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, with the invitation of Divisional Secretary Welikanda, Mr. Harsha Bandara. The Championship was held at the gymnasium of Security Force Headquarters (East), Welikanda, on 19-20 May.
This was an initiative, aimed at facilitating the robust young weightlifters an opportunity to exhibit their skills and aptitudes paving the way for securing victories at national and international level in future bringing accolades to the motherland.
The Commander Security Force (East) and the dignitaries joined in giving away the prizes for winners at the award ceremony held on the closing day.
