MAJOR GENERAL SENARATH BANDARA TAKES OVER THE COMMAND OF THE SECURITY FORCE - EAST

Major General W G H A S Bandara RWP RSP ndu assumed duties on 01 June 2020 as the 19th Commander Security Force (East) amidst traditional military formalities being accomplished at the Security Force Headquarters (East) premises, Welikanda.

The day’s proceedings commenced with the incoming Commander being accorded a Guard Turnout by the troops of 4th Battalion, the Gemunu Watch on his arrival at the premises. He was warmly received by Brigadier General Staff SF HQ(E) Brigadier Manoj Lamahewa.

The newly appointed Commander Security Force (East) Major General Senarath Bandara symbolically accepted his new appointment, placing his signature on an official document at the auspicious minute amidst chanting of Seth Pirith by Maha Sangha. Later on, the Commander planted a sapling at the Headquarter premises to signify his inauguration of the office.

Setting out his scope of work and duties, the Commander Security Force (East) rose to his feet to address the troops where he urged them to be determined to ensure their personal health adhering to safety precautions at this pandemic situation. Further, he stated the importance of performing the assigned duties with dedication, commitment and improving their professional skills through constant training as soldiers of this proud organization. Further, he insisted the need of preserving the image of the Army through maintenance of highest standards of discipline at all levels to ensure the Security Force Headquarters (East) functions most efficiently and effectively.

Prior to being appointed as the Commander Security Force (East), Major General Senarath Bandara served as the General Officer Commanding 11 Division.
