Upon the arrival of the newly promoted General Officer Commanding, Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP psc, at the Headquarter 23 Infantry Division in Punani, troops extended formal honors in accordance with military traditions on 16 September 2023.
The 9th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery presented a Guard Turnout at the main entrance, followed by a Guard of Honour, adhering to established military customs.
As part of the ceremony, the General Officer Commanding was invited by the staff officers to plant a 'Mango' sapling in front of the 23 Infantry Division headquarters office complex, commemorating the occasion.
Following the formal proceedings, Major General Nilantha Premaratne joined all ranks tea and addressed the troops at the Headquarter 23 Infantry Division, marking the conclusion of the felicitation event.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers of under command Brigades and Battalions, Staff Officers, and Other Ranks of the 23 Infantry Division.
