LONG-FELT NEED OF DRINKING WATER IN TIKKANA VILLAGE WAS FULFILLED BY 233 BRIGADE

To coincide with forthcoming 29th Anniversary of the 233 Brigade - Vakarai, a charity programme organized under the guidance of General Officer Commanding, 23 Division Major General Dhammika Jayasundara, was held on 21 February 2020 at Tikkana Village - Kathiraveli. With the financial contribution of Ven. Rideegama Gnaneshwara Thero, a 5000 ltr plastic water tank was installed in the village fulfilling a long-felt requirement of drinking water. Additionally, dry ration packs each worth of Rs.7000, school items, stationeries and many other essential goods were distributed among 35 families in the village with the supervision of Commander 233 Brigade Colonel Rajitha Elvitigala.

The Chief Incumbent of Sri Vidulupura Shasana Pradeeparama Temple Ven. Rideegama Gnaneshwara Thero, the General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, Major General Dhammika Jayasundara, accompanied by the Commander 233 Brigade, donors of Pradeeparama Monastery, Senior Officers, Other Ranks, and civilians were also present at the event.

The lunch was offered to all who present at the programme and the approximate cost of the water project and the distribution of essential goods is Rs. 1.3 million.
