Security Force Headquarters (East) initiated the Inter Division Drill Competition - 2018 to inculcate interest on foot and weapon drills of officers and soldiers, by which Military discipline is enhanced as it requires instant obedience to commands and also it promotes their performance of duties with a sense of teamwork and self control. The awarding ceremony of trophies to the winners and participants of the competition was held on Saturday (29) December at the SFHQ (East) parade grounds amidst a large gathering, headed by Major General KPA Jayasekera WWV RSP USP ndc psc as the Chief Guest.
Platoons representing Divisions of the Security Force (East) participated in the competition. The colourful Drill Display that testified to the high standards of discipline among members of the Army, took center stage of the programme as the first item on the day’s agenda.
In the competition, platoon of 22 Division comprised with the soldiers of 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) was adjudged the 1st and the Best. The second place was won by the team of 24 Division represented by 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) while 12 Sri Lanka National Guard platoon of 23 Division clinched the third place.
The climax of the day’s events was the presentation of trophies, medals and certificates to the Best teams, Best platoon leaders, in respective drill platoons.
Lieutenant B P M Cooray SLSR of 24 Division was awarded as the Best Platoon Commander while Captain SACA Subhasinghe SLAC and Captain WDSR Wijesinghe SLNG received trophies and awards as the 2nd and 3rd Best Platoon Commanders, respectively. The Chief Guest gave away awards to winners in the competition and congratulated each and every one of them.
